Game Design Internship

The Honors Scholars Program Interdisciplinary Design Game-Based Learning Lab is excited to announce a new opportunity for talented CST students to participate in digitizing Safeguard, an educational board game created in collaboration with the American Red Cross.
About the Project
Safeguard is a board game designed to teach players about the essential work the American Red Cross performs before, during, and after natural disasters. Players take on the role of Red Cross volunteers and navigate crisis-response scenarios across five U.S. states. The digital version of this game will help broaden its impact and accessibility.
We are seeking CST students who meet the following criteria:
Strong computer programming skills (i.e. C# and JavaScript)
Demonstrated interest in gaming
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Preferably proficient in game development tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, and Godot
Application & Interview Process
To be considered, students must submit:
A resume
Links to previous projects relevant to programming or game development
After reviewing submissions, selected candidates will be invited to a technical interview held on:
December 8 from 1:00 PM–3:00 PM
December 10 from 1:00 PM–3:00 PM
Students chosen for the project will be enrolled in CST 4900 – Internship in Computer Systems for the Fall 2026 semester.
Course & Project Details
Two sections will be offered (max 15 students per section, 30 students total)
The course will be co-taught by Prof. Cunningham and Dr. Lansiquot, co-directors of the Interdisciplinary Design Game-Based Learning Lab
At the end of the semester, projects will be judged by:

Dr. Lansiquot
Representatives from the American Red Cross
The creator of Safeguard
