Welcome back to the CUNY2X Newsletter and we are ready to start 2025 off right. If you don’t know already the purpose of CUNY2X Tech is to double the number of CST Graduates from City Tech. While we are here at City tech we have some exciting things in store for the year of 2025 continue reading to find out more.

Tech Talent Pipeline Residency

The Tech Talent Pipeline Residency (TTPR) is an exclusive program designed for CST students, offering stipends and additional perks. Participants receive hands-on tech training, work on projects to enhance their GitHub portfolios, excel in both technical and behavioral interviews, and benefit from personalized guidance and coaching to prepare for successful careers in tech.

The TTPR program launched its inaugural cohort at City Tech on January 6th. This cohort consists of 25 students who will undergo intensive full-stack development training from January to March. After completing the training, participants will prepare for technical interviews and, during the summer, interview with NYC-based companies for paid internship opportunities. Congratulations to everyone who is participating in this program!

Workshops/Events

CUNY2X Orientation

February 6th with be the CUNY2X Orientation in A-103 from 12:30 - 1 PM. During this time we will introduce our team our goals, why we are hear and how we plan to help the students in the CST department. This is a great time to get to know the CUNY2X Team please stop by. This is for all students in the CST Department.

Career Foundations Series

In the Spring Semester CUNY2X will be continuing its Career Foundations workshops. In these workshops we will go over how to write resumes, use linkedin, how to network on linkedin and applying to jobs. We are also adding a new workshop which is how to use Github!

We will hold the first workshop “How to write a Resume” right after our orientation on February 6th at 1pm. We hope to see you all there as well as our other workshops.

City Tech 2X Speaker Series

CUNY2X is launching a Speaker Series. These will be in person events for students to learn about different paths in the tech industry. CUNY2X plans on having one speaker a month each month is a different topic. Some topics include project management, data science and analytics, cybersecurity, AI, gaming, software development and many more. More information will be sent out soon for the speaker series so keep and eye out.

Internship Opportunities

If you don’t know already one mandatory requirement for graduating is completing the Internship Requirement. We would like to help you all with this. Please take a look at our internship repositories. These have relevant internships for students in CST department.

If you plan on applying to internships please stop by room N621and meet with Arthur. He can help you with Resumes and Interview prep.

Programs and Hackathons and Career Programs

CUNY Tech Prep:

The CUNY Tech Prep Cohort is taking applications for the 2025-2026 year.

CUNY Tech Prep is a year long technical and professional development program for CUNY computer science and related majors to learn in-demand technologies, master professional soft skills, and land great tech jobs in NYC

Make History at FemHack NYC:

Dates: February 8th - 9th

Location: Techstars NYC

Calling all NYC Female talent! We’re hosting our third Hackathon for women and those who identify as female. The Fierce Foundry Hackathons are not just about building product prototypes, we create a go-to-market strategy and financial models proving the idea beyond the tech! Engineers, Designers and Business Leaders welcome.

Have a team? Sign them up. Don’t have a team? No worries, we will connect you to ideas and other solo-hackers. Everyone will have the opportunity to connect with investors and winners will receive a cash prize!

Army Career Invitational

We’re excited to announce we’re hosting our second U.S. Army Career Invitational on February 15, 2025 for individuals with a background in IT, Cybersecurity or Computer Systems.

Sponsored by the Department of Defense, this one-day virtual event is designed to help students and alumni.Connect to valuable job opportunities within the US Army, particularly for those with a background in IT, Cybersecurity or Computer Systems.

Army Career Invitational

Sponsored by the Department of Defense and presented by Correlation One, the Army Career Invitational is designed to enable individuals to:

Complete interactive "missions" that simulate real-life Army challenges.

Gain insights into how the Army can help them accelerate their careers, both within the military and in the civilian sector.

Those who complete the missions will also be eligible for a share of a $3,000 prize pool.

🚀 Exciting Google Opportunity for CUNY Students!

CUNY, Google, and Basta are offering the Google Software Engineer Program (G-SWEP), a free 10-week immersive program for Computer Science students.
